Mum passed away just three days before her 100th birthday. How tickled she would been with her telegram and card from the Queen which arrived on the due day, also a very nice letter from the President of Ireland. She often said how she did not want to be 100. She always told David and me how she was convent educated - it became a family joke and I often pulled her leg about it when I was on the phone. It was true but the nuns gave her a hard time. She visited us when we lived in Hong Kong and had a great experience. She spent a lot of time visiting us in Thornbury and got to know our friends. I took her away for holidays and stayed with her a lot. We always were good friends and enjoyed each others company. Her skill with a needle and the sewing machine was legendary and she taught me a lot. Her great grandchildren always called her Granny Red Hair and that is how we will remember her. Olive.
